The Indian Institutes Technology Joint Entrance Examination held by the Central Board of Secondary Examination is an engineering college entrance examination conducted annually in India. It is a single gateway for admissions to NITs, IITs as well as other engineering colleges run by state and privately run institutions.
The IIT-JEE main exams are conducted twice a year (January and April). Its held both in offline and online mode.
The maximum age limit for general category students is 25 years, whereas SC,ST and PwD category candidates age should not exceed 30.
Only those who have cleared the class 12 exams successfully can appear for JEE main exam
Each student is provided only 3 attempts to qualify the exams.
The IIT- JEE advanced exams are conducted in May. Students are required to clear the IIT-JEE main exams before attempting the advanced paper. Those who clear the advanced papers can join undergraduate programs in Engineering, Architecture, and Sciences. Unlike the JEE main there is no weightage given to class 12 board marks in JEE Advanced Merit list.
The advanced exam is conducted only the online mode. It has two paper - paper I and paper I
Candidates must qualify the JEE main exams and be in the top 1,50,000 rank holders for the exam.
The maximum age limit for general category students is 25 years while SC, ST Pwd category students should not be more than 30 years old.
