The Cost Management Accounting course is offered by the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICAI), it is aimed at students who wish to pursue in the area of cost management accounting. Obtaining a CMA certification opens up an array of career opportunities such as financial manager, analyser, controller, cost accountant, cost manager etc.
The CMA course is divided into three - CMA foundation, CMA intermediate and CMA final.
The CMA foundation paper is the preliminary paper for the CMA course, in addition to learning about core management, strategy and accounting it also bring focus on the regulatory aspects. The examination is pen and paper based which tests the conceptual clarity on each subject.
The test consists of four papers
Paper 1 - Fundamentals of Economics and Management
Paper 2 - Fundamentals of Accounting
Paper 3 - Fundamental of Laws and Ethics
Paper 4 - Fundamentals of Business Mathematics and Statistics
Eligibility - Any student who has passed the senior secondary examination under the 10+2 format can appear for the exam.
CMA intermediate is the second level of examination for students who are pursuing the CMA certification. The examinations are conducted twice a year (June & December). Students are required to have passed the CMA foundation paper before appearing for this exam.

Paper 8 - Cost Accounting and Financial Management
CWA Inter Stage - II
Paper 9 - Operation Management Information System
Paper 10 - Cost and Management Accounting
Paper 11 - Indirect Taxation
Paper 12 - Company Accounts and Audit
Candidates who pass the CMA final examination are eligible to attain a Membership of ICAI. CMA Final students have to complete modular training for 15 days and complete three years of practical training after the examinations to receive the membership.
